Look alike much??
I ran across a photo of Collin that looked scary similar to Ty. Is it just me?? Both pictures were taken at 6.5 months. I hear more and more people say that Ty and Brantlee favor. But Ty just might be Collin's mini me!
It's a new year
And obviously January has almost slipped away from us! So here's a recap of our month...
New Year's Eve was very low key this year (as it usually tends to be with young kiddos :) We shot fireworks at Lolly and Poppy's house with the Reid boys. Ty was terribly sick with a fever virus :(. Brantlee had it just before Ty but was better by NYE. So Kyle stayed home with Ty so he couldwatch football in peace rock him in the recliner for the evening :) The kids had a large time with the fireworks naturally!
In this month we celebrate Paw Paw Bob's birthday. Every year we all pose with him and Mee Maw in the exact same spot. It's fun to look back and compare from year to year. Have I mentioned how grateful we are that our kids know their great grandparents?? Well we are very grateful!! On the few days it hasn't rained and the sun has actually shone, we've gone outside and soaked it in.
Both kids are still enjoying school, but NOT the going to bed part or the waking up part. Go figure. We got a little snow last week. It was not enough to cancel school, but thankfully Collin's class got to go outside and play in it. He was so upset he couldn't stay home and play in what very little we got. Also we finally finished our chalkboard in the kitchen. Already very functional and put to good use!
So, I turned 30. And I'm glad I now have that behind me :) We had big plans to go out with friends Friday night and eat at Cotton Blues. All 3 kids were staying with different people so we planned to have the whole night to ourselves. Well, little TyTy wasn't feeling well and just wasn't having it and we came home early. He gave Nana a run for her money and ended up spending the night at home. Oh well. (He had bronchitis again!! UGH! So over sickness!) Saturday night we went out for hibachi with the kids. So fun! Then we had a little "party" at home. Notice Ty diving for the cake, ha! Kyle played a nice little joke giving me some "old lady" goodies. Sad thing is that I secretly am excited about a few of these items :) Then he totally redeemed himself by giving me a VERY fancy purse!! Very sweet! Mom cooked a delicious lunch on Sunday and we had more birthday cake. I felt super blessed!!

New Year's Day was just what it should be. Crazy laziness and brunch. Followed by cabbage, black eyed peas, cornbread and pork.

Before going out to dinner the other night Collin decided he needed to "shave" with the kit Santa brought him. He said he didn't want any hair on his face because he wanted to look like a kid, not an adult, ha! He takes his shaving very seriously!
My oh my! Our B is now a gymnast!! She had a permanent smile plastered across her face for her entire first class. This makes me soooo happy to see her so happy about gymnastics. I loved it as a child! I loved it almost as much as I love seeing her in these sparkly gym shorts and leotard. Love.
Ty is just plain rotten. Still so sweet and good, but totally rotten. He commands your total attention now days. This is probably more my fault than his, but that's neither here nor there. But how can you resist this smile?!
Well that's our new year so far!

6 Months
We can't believe you are 6 months old either, Ty!!
I'm mean, seriously. He is half a year old. Ridiculous! And I know from experience that the 2nd half of the year goes by faster than the first. Not sure we are ready for all this!! And he is such a little ham when it comes to picture taking (see photo above and below). He has officially reached the"hip baby" stage, and I love that! It's my favorite stage. The only problem is that he prefers MY hip. We are developing a little Mommy-itis :) Over the last month Ty:
- Got another tooth. This makes 2 on bottom.
- Came down with a terrible virus (so did Brantlee). He ran fever for 5 days and refused to eat and he slept very little. It was not fun. But he is back to his sweet little self now.
- Has been sleeping very well in his crib (except for when he was sick). He usually goes to bed around 8-8:30 and sleeps until around 6 or 7. He sometimes needs a little help with his paci in the night, but other nights he does just fine.
- Has learned to roll both ways and now loves to roll!
- Has discovered toys and goes to town playing with them.
- Is close to sitting up. He can sit for about 7 seconds and then topples over. Not sure when to actually call it.
- Has decided baby food is a good thing. He is also eating and "chewing" little puffs cut in half. We have discovered he likes to chew things (tiny things of course), like tiny bites of sweet potatoes and bananas.
- He weighs close to 19 lbs. He has a check up next week so I'll have better stats after that. (Updated: Weighs 20 lbs 4 oz and is 27 inches long)
- Made the switch to soy-based formula with no problems. PTL!!
2 things I love about this picture: the drool dripping off his chin and the fact that he is about to topple over, ha!
He has discovered Daisy and he LOVED her. She rarely comes inside and I really think this day was the first time he had seen her. Poor cat is all I can say.

Christmas Day '12
Yes, it is 2013 already. But here goes my last Christmas post :)
We had to wake up the kids Christmas morning. We had to get started early... busy day ahead! Collin had only asked Santa for a piano, so he was really surprised about his bike and pogo stick. Not sure what Santa was thinking with that last one! ;) Brantlee is SUCH a girlie girl and is giddy over her vanity and Barbie beach house (she's obsessed with dolls and their homes!) Ty had some help going through his loot, which he loved ... as much as a 5 month old can.
Christmas morning at Mimi and Paw Paw's is always a large time. Delicious breakfast and children everywhere! We are always packed in wall to wall with people and wrapping paper flying everywhere, ha. We are so blessed!
Next we hurried off to Nana and Poppa's for the rest of the day. We didn't want to be caught it the terrible weather that we knew was heading our way. We relaxed (or tried to) while watching the radar. We exchanged gifts and grilled steaks.

Telling Poppa a thing or two...
We are looking forward to a new year. We had a wonderful 2012. Here's to a happy 2013!!
