A few weeks ago, Collin had a flyer in his back pack for a little 1/2 mile run for preschoolers. He said he wanted to try it, so of course we signed him up! He has been practicing at school and at home. He runs around the house over and over again going "super fast like Dad."
Last night when he was getting in bed, he mentioned that he was scared about running today, and we assured him that he shouldn't be... that it's all just for fun and to do his best. After all, he wanted to try this. Anyway, here he is all excited getting his number...
And still doing good for the group picture.
He started out the race strong and took off running!
And then he realized Daddy wasn't with him. Not cool.
He got so freaked out that he decided to forget the whole darn thing.
Not even running with Dad made it better. Just wasn't happening!
We think if Kyle had been with him the whole time, it might have been better. But he acted all excited about it! So no, he didn't finish the race... not even close. Sigh. Collin doesn't do well with new things. Never has and probably never will. Maybe next year... and then again, maybe not. It can be so frustrating as parents! But we forget that he is only 3 years old. And I'm pretty sure Mommy and Daddy are being taught lessons themselves :)
Way to go, Addison!
